Maine Sea Grant runs an annual
competition to fund research projects that address
issues of importance to regulators, industry,
and other stakeholders. Research proposals
are subject to a rigorous peer-review process
to ensure that funded projects meet the highest
scientific standards. Sea Grant-funded
researchers at the University of Maine, Bigelow
Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, Bowdoin College,
the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve,
and other educational and research institutions
in the state conduct projects that help answer
questions related to management and wise use
of marine and coastal resources in the Gulf
of Maine.
