The Herring Gut Egg-to-Plate Initiative provides Maine students with a comprehensive understanding of commercial aquaculture and its importance in providing sustainable seafood. Students in the Region 8 Midcoast School of Technology are being trained in the latest aquaculture technologies, scientific process, and business strategies as they grow food at the learning center.
Sea Grant funds are helping to support the purchase of equipment to upgrade the production-focused aquaponics facility where students will grow fish for consumption at their school and possibly local markets.
