Residents of coastal communities are invited to join coastal property owners, building contractors, and other professionals on a tour of homes in York County that have been made resilient to storms, flooding, and other coastal hazards.
The tour takes place on Saturday, September 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
“Those who attend the tour will learn about strategies they can take to protect their property from wave and wind damage. They’ll get to see first-hand what these techniques look like, and hear about how they are working, from people who know,” said tour organizer Alex Gray. The homes are located in Saco, Biddeford, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport, and demonstrate some of the strategies profiled in the Maine Property Owner’s Guide to Managing Flooding, Erosion & Other Coastal Hazards, http://www.seagrant.umaine.edu/coastal-hazards-guide.
Space is limited and registration is required. A fee of $20 includes transportation, refreshments and lunch, and an information packet.
