Scale Modeling of a Submersible Mussel Raft

Note: Video clips will take a few moments to load.

video The fiberglass model as viewed from the side, in waves scaled down to represent a 3 foot wave in the field. Floats are attached to the corners of the raft, and lie alongside it.
video A similar side view of the fiberglass model, in waves scaled to 6 feet.
video Side view of fiberglass raft with waves scaled to 8 feet.
video The next series of tests examined the behavior of the rafts when submerged. In this clip, the fiberglass raft is submerged an equivalent of 10¹ in the field, and waves equivalent to 3 feet in the field are generated.
video Side view of the fiberglass model submerged, with a scaled 6¹ wave.
video Side view of the fiberglass model submerged, with a scaled 8¹ wave.
video The model built with polyethylene pipe, sunk an equivalent of 10¹, with scaled 8¹ waves.
