The Maine Sea Grant education program seeks to improve marine-related K-16 educational opportunities in the state, as well as continued learning programs for educators. The program offers in-service teacher training workshops, develops formal and informal education programs related to the National Sea Grant Network’s four focus areas,* and develops curriculum materials that are aligned with state and national education standards. Beth Bisson, Maine Sea Grant's education coordinator, works closely with the Marine Extension Team to develop and implement formal and informal K-16 education programs throughout the state, and she is a liaison to other educational organizations in the state, region, and nation. In addition, members of Maine Sea Grant's Marine Extension Team conduct educational programs and provide field experiences for K-16 teachers and students and other informal audiences throughout the state.

Maine Sea Grant serves as the point of contact for graduate students interested in marine-related fellowships such as the Dean John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship, and the NOAA Coastal Management Fellowship. Maine Sea Grant also supports graduate and undergraduate students working with faculty on a wide range of marine-related research projects.
