MST in Two Southern Maine Watersheds
home - vol updates index
June 7, 2002
Dear Volunteer,
I hope you are enjoying the beautiful spring weather these days. Even the rain has been a good change. As you might recall, our upstream water sampling in the Webhannet watershed is finished. Now we are ready to tackle the estuary sampling. Fred and I have finalized all the sample sites, and we'd like to start showing folks where they are. There are a total of 18 sites: 7 sites are on Mile Rd or near Wells Beach, 8 sites are accessed from Route One, and 3 sites are on Drake's Island.
Because of the tides, we've discovered that our previously scheduled dates for the spring and summer have to be changed. We will not be sampling on June 15, as a result. Instead, we've rescheduled to Thursday, June 20, between 8 am and 12 noon. We have to be more careful with our timing, sampling on an outgoing tide. We will still be doing post precipitation sampling, as well.
Please contact Fred or me if you'd like to take on one or a few estuary sites. We will need to show you where they are. And of course let us know if you are available for our June 20 sample date. Thanks for all your help!
